Frequently asked questions Question: "How long should I plan for my child to be at Bethel?

We normally require young men entering our program to be with us for one year. We feel this is the amount of time needed to bring lasting change in the lives of at risk teens. Our staff will work with you based on your child's progress and your assessment of our performance to decide how long your child should stay with us.

Question: "Do you provide a school facility on site? Can my child recieve a quality education at Bethel Academy?

Yes, we certainly are confident we can provide a top quality education. Please visit our Academics page for more information on our school program.

Question: "May I see my child during his stay at Bethel Academy?

Yes, you certainly may. Due to our structured and controlled environment, we do ask all visits be scheduled in advance through our director or his designate. As a rule, we prefer the Cadet be given time to settle into the daily routine and become acclimated to our structured life here at Bethel. We ask visits be scheduled after the first couple of months to allow for settling in. You may discuss visits with the director so we may work together to provide the best care for your teen.

Question: "My child is really out of control. Do you expect to be able to control him?"

We have many years of experience, plus a sincere and deep desire to help troubled, out of control teens. Our staff is experience and trained, skilled in the art of controlling these deeply troubled youths while showing them love and respect they so badly need.

Question: "May I communicate with my child?"

Yes you may. You may write him, and if so please use our mailing address rather than the physical campus address.. You may call on a regular basis, usually once per week is the recommended frequency calls can be recieved. This is to allow us to prevent undue disruption to our structured routine which is part of the Cadet's pathway to better behavior and a new life.

Question: "Are there facilities at Bethel where parents can spend time, such as a weekend with thier child without leaving the area"

Yes we have currently three cabins, one completed and two others under constructon. The facilies are on beautiful lake just down the road from the main Bethel campus. Parents may make advanced arrangement with the director or his designate for a stay in one of the cabins. A stay in the cabin is at a fee. Please check with our director or his designate for the cost of use of the cabin. In the event the cabins should not be available, there are hotels located in the area.
